MAA - IMPORTANT! Update to Upcoming Events!
by MAA Webmaster posted 03/19/2020

MIDDLETOWN ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS

IMPORTANT INFORMATION -- EFFECTIVE THURSDAY, MARCH 26, 2020

As the pandemic unfolds throughout our area, we must continue to be especially cautious when it comes to the safety and welfare of our children and of our entire families. With this in mind we are following Governor Wolf’s orders and keeping the MAA facility and all spring sport activities suspended until April 13th. The situation, as everyone is aware, continues to be changing rapidly in recent days. We are also following closely the guidelines set forth by Little League, US Soccer, local and state health officials, and CDC recommendations, and in so doing we have updated our schedule of upcoming activities and events. Once again, all dates and events listed below are subject to be changed, postponed, or canceled with Very Little Notice! These events include:

MAA Indoor Basketball – This Program remains Postponed!
All schools remain closed to all outside organization events within their facilities from now through at least April 13th. We have hope that we can schedule the remaining games and create a playoff structure that can be concluded quickly and still give our players and families the opportunity to finish the season as strong as it started. Once we know when we can safely return to use the schools’ gymnasiums, we will work with the districts to reschedule the time needed at their facilities. We will keep you posted and informed as to when we can possibly return to finish the season.

MAA Spring Soccer
The MAA Spring Soccer program as per local health officials and state recommendations will not practice or begin any season activities until at least April 13th. Further evaluation and monitoring of the overall situation will be done prior to April 13th. We must strongly discourage any non-sanctioned practices between now and the end of the suspension, however, please continue to work with your player(s) on their skills at home. More information on the start of the season will be periodically sent to keep you informed.

MAA Spring Baseball & Softball (including Suburban and Travel programs)
All Spring MAA Baseball and Softball programs are still delayed several additional weeks per recommendations of health officials and the Little League Organization of America. There will be no MAA games, practices, or any other activities until at least April 13th. Once again, we must strongly discourage any non-sanctioned practices between now and the end of the suspension, however, please continue to work with your player(s) on their skills at home. This delay in all activities and the start of the season also applies to all suburban and travel programs. We will continue to monitor the situation and receive guidance from Little League as to proceeding with the season. Updates will be periodically sent to keep you informed.

Dick’s Sporting Goods Appreciation Weekend
This event has been officially postponed. Due to the recent mandate by The State of Pennsylvania regarding the temporary closing of all non-essential retail stores in our entire state, we must wait to hear back from our local Dick’s Sporting Goods representative to determine when this event will be rescheduled. We will send out additional information as it becomes available.

Field Maintenance Day – Current Target Date is now April 18th
This event has been officially postponed and will be rescheduled once we have more information as to the start of the season. We have currently scheduled this to be April 18th.

Lunch with the Easter Bunny Fundraiser - March 29th
This event has been canceled!

Opening Day & Parade
This event has been officially postponed and is temporarily rescheduled for April 25th.

Picture Day
This event will need to be rescheduled, we will send out additional information once we know more as to the start of the baseball and softball season.

Trenton Thunder Night - April 28th
Currently on as scheduled assuming Minor League Baseball will only have a delayed start to their season.

There is no replacing the sights, sounds, smells, and feelings that a child and the child-at-heart receives when engaging in youth sports during the spring and summer months. The Executive Board and Program Directors remain dedicated and eagerly optimistic to making the upcoming season as successful as possible for your players and we are still extremely excited to get this season under way for baseball, softball, and spring soccer at MAA!

Sincerely,
The Middletown Athletic Association Executive Board

Response to Coronavirus (COVID-19) and Public Health Message

Dear MAA Families, Friends, and Supporters:

The health and safety of our players and coaches as well as their family and friends, is of the utmost importance and always the top priority for Middletown AA.  We are closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation and are taking action based on guidance from public health experts, CDC, Little League, and US Soccer.

In line with all recommendations and guidelines from all available resources, we have attached a document for the Middletown Athletic Association Coronavirus Preparedness Plan.

This plan outlines the initial steps being taken to provide the safest environment possible for all involved. Please take time to read through the document and do not hesitate to ask the MAA board if you have questions regarding these guidelines.

We will be shortly sending out an update to all our upcoming events that will include some adjustments and/or cancellations. We must remain flexible in these conditions and certainly appreciate your cooperation for our upcoming spring season.

Sincerely,
The Middletown Athletic Association Executive Board
